Top 20 Common Birds. And My Captures of some...
Audubon.org has a great article on their site detailing the 20 most common birds. I've been photographing birds on and off for about a year or so now, and more seriously the last 6 months. I thought it would be interesting to look over all my best bird photos and see how many of the top 20 common birds I have managed to capture. Having not checked my photos yet I'm going to guess I've captured maybe 8 or 9 of the top 20. Lets see how I'm doing, here is the full list of the 20 common birds. I've put a '*' next to birds I have photographed with photos below. Wow, 10 out of 20, not too bad. Enjoy the photos.

American Robin
Taken in my front yard by chance when coming home a trip to the store.
Northern Cardinal
This majestic shot was taken in my backyard. The perch was positioned near a feeder so I could position the purple flower in the background.
Blue Jay
Taken from ground level, this Blue Jay was looking for food in my backyard on a summer day.
Mourning Dove
Taken from ground level at sunrise, this Morning Dove was looking for breakfast.
American Crow
Not one of my better shots, but an American Crow non-the-less. I'll count it for now. Not in my Wildlife Gallery as I'd like to get a better shot someday.
Northern Mockingbird
This shot was taken at Kinder Farms Park in Ann Arundel County. I was just walking along and enjoying the park when this Mockingbird landed on the ground about 10 feet from me.
Dark-eyed Junco
Caught this little guy just hanging out right off my deck and I nabbed a quick shot of him.
Tufted Titmouse
Taken in Pennsylvania in the spring time. There was a flowering tree perfectly positioned right behind this Titmouse.
House Sparrow
This shot was taken while on vacation in the Outer Banks, NC. It was on taken along the boardwalk on the bay side. A group of House Sparrow's were flying around and landed in some brush nearby.
Downy Woodpecker
Pecking away on a branch. This woodpecker was making some noise and was easy to find by listening for him. This shot was taken in Pennsylvania.
BONUS: Hummingbird
Not mentioned in the common top 20, but I've recently captured some good shots of the Hummingbird so figured I thrown in a bonus photo. Check out my Wildlife Gallery for more photos.
